Jennifer McCowan

Owner & Founder of Hope Hair Recovery & Scalp Clinic, Board Member on the American Hair Loss Council, National Hair Loss Affiliate, Educator

Jennifer developed a craving for science behind hair loss and the underlying issues that causes hair loss in the first place. In the fall of 2018, Jennifer enrolled with the World Trichology Society where she received her full certification and was complemented with the additional title of Professor of the World Trichology Society. Jennifer loves to educate, inspire, and empower people by using her own experiences. She now teaches medical professionals, stylists, cosmetology students and the general public. Recently, Jennifer was named a 2020 SABEX finalist, and was also a YWCA Woman of Distinction Finalist. 

 

Karen Chovan

Karen aims to raise awareness and facilitate the uptake of more holistic and sustainable practices across the environmental industry. Karen gained her BASc and a MASc in Mine Waste Management from UBC, and has followed a 20-year career through tailings and mine waste management, project management and strategic planning, sustainability advisement and organizational change. She strives to see all sustainability-related risks and improvement opportunities sought out, addressed and integrated into decision making and planning, to meet all stakeholder objectives.

Krista MartenS

Founder & Principal Designer at Beyond Measure Design Inc., recently served as the President of Business and Professional Women of Saskatoon Inc. (BPW Saskatoon)

Krista is passionate about residential design, and fuels her passion through her writing, mentorship and leadership in her industry. She is also a graduate of the Architectural and Building Technology at Saskatchewan Polytechnic. 

 

Monique Simair

CEO & Principal Scientist at Maven, Adjunct professor at the University of Saskatchewan, Innovator, Leader

Maven is Monique’s second company founded in 2019 after the successful sale of her fist company, Contango Strategies. Monique has a rich academic background in applied microbiology and biogeochemistry. She is an innovator and leader in passive and semi-passive water treatment strategies and technologies. Monique designed water treatment systems for applications at mines, oilsands, and industrial sites, including Canada, US, and Kyrgyzstan. She also has dozens of peer-reviewed publications in the areas of biogeochemical water treatment, treatment wetlands, and characterization and treatment of oilsands produced waters. Monique was named the youngest person ever to be appointed as an advisor to the Science, Technology, and Innovation Council of the Canadian Federal Government.

Sarah Gauthier

Assistant Professor at the University of Saskatchewan, Engineer in the Areas of Environment, Water Resources, and Water Treatment, Teaching Stream Faculty at the Department of Civil, Geological and Environmental Engineering

Sarah is of mixed Nihithaw (Cree) and French Canadian ancestry and is a member of the Lac La Ronge Indian Band which adhered to Treaty 6 in 1889. Sarah was raised in La Ronge (mistahisakahikanihk) and moved to Saskatoon to complete her degrees at the University of Saskatchewan: a BSc in Microbiology (1999) and BE and M.Eng. in Civil Engineering (2003 and 2014, respectively). Sarah engages in decolonizing and indigenizing engineering education and investigating methods to support mental health of students. She remains involved in technical aspects of her field of practice, and teaches undergraduate classes in engineering design and engineering economics.
