Case Study: Golden Opportunities

Two years ago, I had the opportunity to work with the Golden Opportunities team and teach them the Action Tracking process. We were able to show a significant increase in sales through our work (whoohooo!).

I had the opportunity to catch up with their team earlier this week and they are still going strong! As Raeleen Mann, the head of Communications, shared “The Action Tracking process still guides our digital strategy. It is our foundation, continues to help us streamline, and we still see the benefits of the system.”

As many of you know, I love to help organizations with capacity building and this glowing update made my heart sing. :) Check out the highlights of our time together:

Over twenty years ago, Golden Opportunities became Saskatchewan’s first provincial Retail Venture Capital Fund that invests in local companies to positively impact our Province.

When a resident invests in Golden Opportunities, they get tax credits and RRSP benefits, and their investment stays at home in local companies.

It was important for Golden Opportunities to spread the word to local residents and share the benefits it provides in addition to other RRSP products.

So we used the Action Tracking process to figure out the best messaging and platforms.

Starting with an in-depth research report, we then moved to test the messaging. “At first it didn’t feel like a science, but hold hope and trust the process; it becomes a science, and we went from a guessing game to a focused strategy with measurable results,” Mann explains.

As it was rolled out on Facebook, LinkedIn, and Google Ads, we continued to monitor and measure very carefully. It resulted in additional sales attributed to the process—a significant increase from the year before in reaching goals through paid search as well as social network marketing.

Having this team feel so good about the strategy is the best part of this story! Here’s to continuing to build local Saskatchewan companies and impact our province together!
